When the Holy Father, Pope John-Paul II, granted the indult for the public celebration of the Latin Tridentine Mass, the late former Bishop of Brooklyn, His Excellency, Francis John Mugavero, granted a similar indult for its celebration here in the Diocese of Brooklyn. For nearly twenty-five years now, following permission of Bishop Mugavero’s successor, Bishop Thomas Daily, Our Lady of Peace has been an official worship site for Latin Tridentine Mass. Although the mass has been scheduled at different times over the years, presently, the Latin Tridentine Mass is celebrated every Sunday at Our Lady of Peace, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The mass is accompanied with organ and choir, and they also provide missalettes, which like the old Saint Joseph Missals, contain both the English and Latin, side-by-side, on alternating pages.
Periodically throughout the year, special services are conducted, which are announced prior to their celebration (e.g. ‘Requiem Masses,’ Feast Days and Holiday Days of Obligation). Please follow this link for additional information, resources, and periodic announcements on the Latin Tridentine Mass at Our Lady of Peace Parish.
